Between 1990 and 2015, maternal mortality rates fell by more than 44 percent, but about 800 women still die during pregnancy and childbirth. The maternity, newborn, and child health programs of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation are dreaming of a world where healthy mothers receive a high level of care for trained professionals and deliver healthy children.

To this end, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is collaborating with governments, bilateral agencies, multilateral organizations, and civil society. We also support activities such as family planning, nutrition, program advocacy, and communication. In particular, maternal, neonatal, and child health programs are currently being implemented at the national level and are using national, regional, and global policy and financial instruments to expand the scale.
The heart of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for Women's Powering and Family Health is family planning.

The Foundation's goal is to have a long-term goal of a universal approach to voluntary family planning, and by 2020 to provide 120 million women and girls in the poorest countries with compulsory education, services, and supplies without compulsion or discrimination. It is to spread.Voluntary family planning has been one of the most dramatic developments in health care over the last 100 years. Being able to make decisions about whether or not to have a child for a woman and when to have a child lowers the mortality rate of the mother and the newborn child as well as reduces unintended pregnancies. It also increases women's educational and economic opportunities and leads to healthier families and communities.
